Nissan launched its own premium car, the Cedric 30, in 1960. Design chief Shozo Sato was responsible for the lines. An engineer by training, he had impressed executives at Nissan with his excellent watercolour rendering and was appointed head of the fledgling styling office.

In spite of massive domestic range of engines, sold in Britain only as a 260C, with 140bhp (gross) 2.6-litre engine, like 260Z coupé unit.

It is a 1969 Datsun 2300 Super Six and was owned by three generations of the same family from new until I purchased the car this year. It still features most of the original paint (be it very faded), interior, engine and trans. The original 1966 130 Cedric was designed by Pininfarina, but this Mark 4 130 was redesigned in house by Nissan.

The Nissan Cedric was sold in Canada for 1964 - 103½" wheelbase, 6 passenger, 4 cyl,,115.29-cid and 95 bhp. It went for C$2895. Styling had a touch of 1964 Studebaker sedan. Grew up in Winnipeg and Gladstone Motors on Portage Avenue at Victor Street handled the Cedric only tor 1964 and the Datsun starting in 1964 and into the 1980's.
