Este manantial de agua es el protagonista de la legendaria y más famosa leyenda de la ciudad de Jaén "El lagarto de la Magdalena" al ser identificada como su guarida. Muy cerca del Raudal se encuentra la escultura del lagarto en un pequeño estanque con la placa que lo conmemora.
