John Buckland-Wright, a native New Zealander, was an illustrator and graphic artist. He studied history at Oxford and architecture in London. In the 1920s he lived and worked in Brussels and in the 1930s he lived and worked in Paris. From 1948-53 he eventually studied art at Slade, and was considered much more a European than a British artist.
