The Polski Fiat 125p came to be in 1967, when the Polish communist government was looking to replace the ageing FSO Warszawa with something a smidge less archaic, they managed to convince the Italians at Fiat to relaunch the pre World War II Polski Fiat brand, help modernise the FSO plant in Warsaw and provide a licence for one of their contempo.
