As luck would have it, my younger Brother and family came out to enjoy our maiden milk-can voyage so we made up the full recipe to serve eight. Steps: Peel and clean corn, saving and washing enough husks to cover the bottom of a 5-gallon metal cream can or stockpot. Layer with corn, half of the potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage, then half of the sausages. Repeat layers with the rest of the vegetables and sausages. Pour the water over and add salt and pepper if desired.

2 Cans of Corn or 1lb Frozen Corn. 3 cloves of Garlic. 1/2 Large Onion Chopped. 2lb Smoked Beef Sausage (I prefer Hillshire Farms brand) 6 Med Potatoes Chopped. Salt and Pepper to taste. Mince Garlic. Chop potatoes, onion and sausage into large pieces. Combine all the ingredients in your Crockpot, and set cook time.

The milk cans (or cream cans) come in various sizes, the biggest being 10 1/2 gallons. That can is about 3 1/2 feet tall and about a foot in diameter. There was enough room for Grandma to put in ~25 lbs of potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, and several roasts. They spiced everything up nice, added some water and put it on a propane burner with.
