Tav casually chats in camp. Lae'Zel time for some evening exercise r/BaldursGate3

this is probably the answer. if you go into the install folder and then data folder you can even see a big file called gustav. It is 'Project Gustav' You're not imagining it. My fan theory it's modeled after the lines of Shakespeare: 'There never was a tale of greater woe..'. Well you know the rest.

It was the default name for your character during EA. After Swen's dog Gustav. Ah interesting. I must have missed that at the start. Thank you. I saw a post at one point that noted all the player character VAs are credited as "Tadpoled Adventurer" which is presumably what inspired "Tav" as the default name.

Tav is the default name of the custom player character in BG3. They start off with this name regardless of their gender or race. As you all know, creating a custom character is a time-consuming affair. Choosing the fitting class, skills, race and background are all rather overwhelming, hence many people forget to change their character's name.

[OC] I made an artwork of my Tav from baldurs gate 3 r/BaldursGate3

Shwin Aug 3 @ 3:25am. First playthrough will be a custom Tav (Tiefling Multiclass Gloomstalker Ranger/Shadow Monk). Depending on whose story I seemed to enjoy the most, I will play their origin story next in a multiplayer session. Dark Urge may be my 3rd or 4th playthrough depending on if I wanted to play a second origin first.

All the latter is from wikipedia. It's the last letter of various alphabet (hebrew, arabic..) Interestingly : in the Book of Ezekiel, Tav (Taw) is the marking for those that were safe from the destruction of Jerusalem. It would make a nice parallel with BG3's Tav and other being safe from the illithid transformation.

Yes the same as being able to play all the other Origin characters. #10. Time Traveler Jul 11, 2023 @ 2:41pm. Good Tav, then evil Tav, then probably the Dark Urge and maybe back to good Tav. I plan on playing this game for a good deal of years to come. #11. AGamerAndYou Jul 11, 2023 @ 2:44pm.

I was going to make a game or two with these characters at some point too. Super slight spoilers for the Lae'zel intro scene, but here's my (durge) Tav, Persephone! She's an oath of vengeance paladin/storm sorcerer, kinda loosely based on an old Star Wars: The Old Republic character I played years ago.

Image Source: Larian Studios. Tav is the default name that Baldur's Gate 3 assigns to custom characters until the player changes it. And if players fail to change it before starting their campaign, they would have been stuck with it for the rest of their playthrough. Luckily, after all the recent updates there is a way players can change.

Who is Tav in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3)? On the surface, Tav is the default name for a custom, non-Origin character. You can change this name to anything you would like, but if you keep the name, your character will be named "Tav". This name refers to Baldur's Gate 3's original game title, Project Gustav. Project Gustav originally made.

I always just type in a name in my rerolls and never even noticed the default wasn't random. 113. Sort by: As a reference to that name, when you create a new character it's called Tav by default. And the community simply started using Tav when referring to the player's main character. •.

I don’t think my Tav exactly inspires confidence... r/BaldursGate3

There's quite an easy explanation to this word. In Baldur's Gate 3, Tav is the general name for your custom Origin character. This may also refer to your Dark Urge custom character, but some.

My tav!!! r/BaldursGate3

edit: it's very conditional if it's better than custom. If you plan on good/neutral playthrough, DU background may turn out detrimental and wasteful (you miss out on stuff if you stay good guy). If you plan to be evil, it's a huge improvement over "normal Tav" as DU background encourages you to act evil. Sometimes it is better.

Man, I'm pretty Basic Tav looking at perfection r/BaldursGate3

The default name for the protagonist in Baldur's Gate 3 is Tav, which is how they're referred to when mentioned outside of the game. The name Tav has no special relevance within Dungeons.

There's no question that a custom Tav in Baldur's Gate 3 can grow to become a powerful character, but attaining the title of the mightiest spellcaster in Faerûn might still seem like something of a stretch. The setting of Baldur's Gate 3 is rich with magic, as handily exhibited by characters like Elminster, who has far more experience and general esteem than any Tav could dream of.

Basic Tav looks so much better with a 'stache r/BaldursGate3

Tav still has value if you want to play the game without feeling like a psycho on account of a voice whispering in your ear to do unspeakable things. If you want to play an ordinary soldier, a tranquil monk or a virtuous paladin then Dark Urge doesn't fit. Conversely, if you want to play an evil cleric or warlock, you might want to establish.
