The Bridge over the River Kwai, also known as the Death Railway Bridge, is a historic landmark in the Kanchanaburi province of Thailand. The Bridge was built during World War II by prisoners of war as part of a railway connecting Thailand and Myanmar, which was created under brutal conditions and resulted in the deaths of thousands of prisoners and forced labourers.
