Made in England by British Fly Reels, the first runs of the Battenkill Large Arbor have proven to be resilient angling tools. You can find original Battenkill Large Arbor reels on the second hand market. The BLA I is designed for the lightest trout weights. Models go up from there, including the BLA V which can accommodate large saltwater species.

Quite awhile back,(maybe 15+ years ago), I learned that Orvis "Outlet Stores" might have some of "Demo" large arbor reels available at prices significantly lower priced than the then-current retail prices. I called a few of the Orvis Outlets and found one.

Orvis Battenkill Large Arbor II Fly Reel Fightmaster Fly Fishing
These are well made reels, but with some caveats. First, the drag is simple and o.k. for salt if maintained, but not high performance. Second, the arbor is a super large arbor which is good for line management but not great line capacity. The spool dimensions are narrow and large diameter. The design is fine for light salt, IMO.
