On 14 December 1962 the Los Angeles Times reported, Alfred Hitchcock will be making "The Birds," already offbeat enough, still more so. It will have no music "as such" but instead, electronic sound. This will be supplied by Remi Gassman [sic] and Oskar Sala in Berlin, to which city Hitchcock will fly today.

"The Birds" features inventive effects, state-of-the-art filming techniques and a groundbreaking soundtrack made up of simulated bird sounds rather than a musical score.
